M is for mmmmmmm...Manhattan......

A good friend of mine has recently reminded me of the tastiness of a Manhattan.....back in the days of my 20s, Jack and Coke was my drink of choice, but loved pretty much any form of a whiskey drink at the time....and a Manhattan fit into that category!   He makes an amazing Manhattan and agreed to share his recipe.  We like to drink ours straight up - these can also be served on the rocks.

Straight Up Manhattan
makes 2, or 1 really good drink

2 parts blended Canadian whiskey (we have moved to the Canadian Club, aged 10 years)
3/4 part sweet vermouth
3 drops bitters
Maraschino cherry juice to taste
Maraschino cherry as garnish

First, let your martini glasses get really cold in the freezer - this is key!  In a cocktail shaker with ice, add whiskey, vermouth, bitters, and cherry juice.  Shake like crazy, pour into frosty martini glass and serve with a Maraschino cherry.  Enjoy!!
