At my little one’s recent pool party (see full blog post here) I decided to offer
Harvey Wallbangers to the adults. A few took
me up on it - certainly not something I could drink more than 1-2 of, but
nonetheless, they were different and old school.
I remember my dad breaking out the bottle of Galliano and serving these cocktails when my parents entertained, or maybe just on a Saturday night. These are
fairly easy – OJ, Vodka, and Galliano.

Galliano is a sweet, herbal liqueur that has a number of natural
ingredients such as star anise, Mediterranean anise, Juniper berry, musk yarrow, lavender, peppermint, cinnamon, and Galliano's hallmark vanilla flavor.
There are a few different stories I've read about how this drink came about. I did learn that it was supposedly invented in 1952 and I do know that it was popular in the 1970s. So why not take a jump back into the '70s and mix up one of these cocktails! As always, I'd love to know what you think!
Harvey Wallbanger
Serves 1
1 ½ ounces vodka
4 ounces orange juice
½ ounce Galliano
Slice or wedge of orange to garnish
Fill a glass with ice cubes.
Add vodka and orange juice, and then stir to combine. With a spoon, float the Galliano on top. Garnish.
Adding a maraschino cherry to the orange garnish was popular too!
