A couple of weeks ago, my family checked out a new restaurant
called Via - it took over the Tutti Santi space located in the southwest corner
of Greenfield and Warner and opened on
February 1st of this year.
We decided to go in the early evening and ended up
taking advantage of a few of their happy hour specials. Starting with $5 glasses of wine and an
order of the Bacon Wrapped Scallops (at a reduced price), we were set!
Our server told us that the kitchen at Via prides
themselves on making their dishes from scratch, and they do, they make
everything from scratch. Sauces, pizza
dough, salad dressings, etc. there are
no microwaves in the kitchen which is a good thing in my opinion! Cooking times are a little bit longer, but
that is to be expected for fresh, quality food.
The boys each
had a serving of pasta with meatballs – they were the perfect size for kids and
they had no problem finishing them off.
The hubby wanted to order the house lasagna – this is
quite possibly his favorite Italian dish to eat. He pretty much orders it every time we eat at
an Italian restaurant! But – it does
take a little bit longer, so opted for the Chicken Marsala – he was very
pleased with his choice!
After the appetizer, I enjoyed an order of the
bruschetta. There were several varieties
from which to choose, I went with the traditional, tomato based version.
The happy hour menu had Cinnamon Dough Balls on it and
we thought it would be a necessary dessert for the table! Pizza dough rolled into balls, then deep
fried, and then covered with cinnamon and sugar. Tasty.
Scratch that. DELICIOUS!
You can check out their website at www.viawoodovenpizza.com to view their menu, hours, etc. There is also live music on occasion; you can
read about their “events” on their site as well.
Via is definitely worth a try. Our experience was friendly service, good
food, and a nice atmosphere. Via is
located at 832 S. Greenfield Rd. #101 in Gilbert and their number is
480-632-1082.
